WKO Honduras hosted the Honduras Full Contact Karate Championship “Tokugawa Cup” on October 18, 2025, in Tegucigalpa city. The organizer, Branch Chief Nestor Cubas, for respect and admiration towards Tokugawa Ieyasu, dedicated this edition to celebrate his legacy.

Full Contact Karatekas of different organizations from around Honduras gathered to compete for first place in the event. Among the most exciting bouts were, in Adults, Estiven Zuniga, Alejandro Chinchilla, Oliver Godoy, Danna Kim, and Greissy Molina’s matches towards winning the gold medals in their respective weight categories.
In the younger categories the star of the day was 10-year-old Alice Ortiz Velasquez, who won her bouts with impressive and powerful kicks.
This tournament was an official event of the 90th Anniversary of the Japan-Honduras diplomatic relations, and thus the Japanese Ambassador Nakai Kazuhiro, Honorary President of 90th Anniversary Committee as a guest of honor, awarded a Special Award Certificate to a Male and Female fighter for outstanding performance for Kids, Youth and Adults. Also Mrs. Gladys Maradiaga from UNITEC University, the main sponsor of the “Tokugawa Cup,” attended and gave a warm welcome to all participants.
At the start of the event, Honduras Shinkyokushin Association President, Sensei Egla Gattorno, paid homage to the late Sensei Luis Hernandez Muñoz, who passed away two weeks before this tournament.
