Date: 6th October 2025
Place: Stumps Indoor Stadium, Werahera, Colombo, Sri Lanka
Organizer: WKO Sri Lanka Branch (Branch Chief Mahesh Gayan Amarasinghe)
The Training Camp 2025 was organized by Sensei Mahesh Gayan Amarasinghe, Branch Chief of WKO Sri Lanka, on 6th October 2025 in Colombo.
It was a vibrant and disciplined event that brought together over 40 students from various age categories—ranging from under 6 to 18 years, both male and female.
The camp commenced with a special remembrance ceremony dedicated to Late Shihan Piyarathne Muthukumarana, in honor of Teacher’s Day. This was followed by a dynamic group warm-up session and fundamental punching and kicking drills.
Participants were then divided into groups, and training sessions were conducted by senior black belt Senpai instructors — Gahanath, Viduna, Rumeth, Thushara, Venuk, Adil, and Vinudi, under the supervision of Sensei Mahesh Amarasinghe, who served as the chief instructor for the event.
The program featured intensive practice sessions focused on Kata, Kumite, and Kihon, offering students a well-rounded experience of traditional and full-contact Shinkyokushinkai Karate.
This successful event reflects the growing strength and recognition of Shinkyokushinkai Karate in Sri Lanka and across the Asian region. It underscores our ongoing commitment to upholding the traditions of WKO while fostering discipline, unity, and continuous improvement among our students.
We express our sincere gratitude to WKO Headquarters Japan for their continuous guidance and support, which inspire us to further develop the spirit and future of Karate in Sri Lanka.
