Dear Branch Chiefs and Contacts,
This will be the last newsletter for this year. In Japan, we have entered the winter season, and the weather is getting quite cold. I trust that you are all doing fine in your country and region. In this prolonged COVID-19 crisis, there are signs that we are gradually reaching the end of the tunnel, while adjusting and renovating our society to coexist with the virus, but at the same time, with the emergence of the new variant, we cannot let our guard down, and we still need to maintain a cautious stance.
The 53rd All Japan Open Karate Championship was held on December 12 in Osaka. Although there were COVID-19 related restrictions, we were able to hold a tournament with the presence of spectators for the first time in 2 years. It was a great pleasure to welcome the supporters of WKO, and I was grateful that we were able to enjoy the true essence of Full Contact Karate in the same atmosphere. This was also the case for the tournament we held last year without spectators, but I sincerely appreciate the financial support from our sponsors, despite the serious damage to the economy due to the COVID-19 crisis. As a result, the tournament was filled with appreciation and dignity. In the arena, due to the COVID-19 related restrictions, support was expressed by the clapping of hands. Even without any words or voices, the strong feelings and wishes could be felt, and the sound became a special tone for everyone. The spectators also demonstrated their kind cooperation and understanding towards the many restrictions related to COVID-19. For the competitors participating in tournaments organized during this COVID-19 crisis, the sense of appreciation is more important than ever. In response to the mind of the organizer, the competitors demonstrated the result of the trainings they continued despite the COVID-19 related restrictions, and carried out great battles. In each bout, the pure mind of the competitors resulted in techniques, carried out through the well-trained bodies. I was deeply touched by the ultimate balance of mind, technique, and body demonstrated by the competitors.
For the men’s category, which had the participation of many strong competitors from various Full Contact Karate organizations, Kembu Iriki won the strongest tournament for the second year in a row, and the battles he carried out were filled with confidence and dignity. For the women’s category, Mihiro Suzuki, at the age of 16, finished in 2nd place in her first All Japan, by battling until the final extension after the decision by weight in the Final. She is the eldest daughter of Shihan Kunihiro Suzuki, who was diagnosed with leukemia two years ago. I was deeply moved by her bouts, where she fought with impressive concentration and diligence, while carrying on her shoulders, the wishes of Shihan Suzuki and the family, who watched from the spectator’s seats. In addition, for the non-WKO competitors who became prizewinners in the tournament, especially Kubota, who won the women’s category for the third consecutive time, they fought with confidence and dignity, demonstrating the result of their hard training. I hope that the competitors will meet again in this tournament, and that this friendly rivalry will spread beyond the boundaries of organizations. I would like to congratulate and praise the competitors for their great efforts. Based on the results of this tournament, the competitors for the Japan National Team were selected. I am looking forward to the battles that will be carried out in the tournament that will have the participation of the European team and the Russian team, that were decided in the same period, and of course, the teams selected by the other regions in the world.
In the Full Contact Karate world, due to the formation of the unified competition, the united front is gradually being built. This world has a distinctive feature of having a diverse culture, and a foundation based on the coexistence of each school, style, group, and organization, that have their own unique color and identity. I believe that harmony and unity are being promoted in the various regions around the world. When such steps reach concrete stages, such as tournaments and meetings, there may be voices of anticipation and anxiety, but I hope that through discussions and the exchange of ideas, the best path will be chosen by the related members. To teach and give, to be taught and given, the teachings of each school, style, group, and organization. While considering the nobleness of the bond between the teacher and student, that is built, compiled, and woven by the many years of training, and respecting the ideas and viewpoints of the organization, which is a collection of such relationships, let us continue our movement forward.
Through changes and transformations in society to coexist with the virus, we are aiming for the closure of the COVID-19 crisis, but we have seen the recent strengthening of restrictions related to international travel. This may complicate the organization of the 7th World Karate Championship in Weight Categories that is scheduled to be held in Poland on September 24-25, 2022. However, for the competitors that are continuing their training despite the COVID-19 crisis, I would like for us to carry out various measures so that we can realize the organization of this event. With the efforts of the competitors around the world in mind, we will continue our work to prepare and organize a great tournament.
Lastly, the past 2 years of coexisting with COVID-19, have given me the opportunity to reconsider and reexamine myself. What we should consider as important in our WKO. The noble and precious tournaments we organized in this COVID-19 crisis. I would like to express my sincere appreciation towards the kind consideration of those who have supported the events, and I will do my best to make 2022 a fruitful year full of hope. The state of the mind, can be seen in one’s speech and behavior. Based on the principle to “master our mind”, let us focus our minds on such actions and expressions, take steps toward the future, and further develop our organization. I would like to conclude my message by wishing all WKO members good health and happiness, and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Уважаемые Бран Чифы и Руководители спортивных залов! Этот мой ежемесячный информационный бюллетень будет последним в этом году. В Японии наступила зима, погода становится совсем холодной. Как вы поживаете в ваших странах и регионах? Я думаю, что вы проводите плодотворно дни. В затянутой кризисной ситуации вируса COVID-19 мы чувствуем признаки того, что он собирается сходить на нет медленным темпом, но сосуществуя с нашим обществом в виде нового варианта вируса, поэтому нам нужно продолжать соблюдать меры предосторожности.
53-ий Все Японский Открытый Чемпионат Карате был проведен 12-го декабря в городе Осака. Несмотря на еще действующие ограничения, связанные с COVID-19, мы смогли провести турнир в присутствии зрителей впервые за два года. Это была большая радость для нас приветствовать сторонников WKO, и я был благодарен, что мы вместе получили полное удовольствие от истинной сущности Фул- Контактного Карате. Это также относится к турниру прошлого года, проведенному без зрителей. Я сердечно благодарю за финансовую поддержку наших спонсоров, предприятия и организации, которые поддерживают нас в тяжелой экономической ситуации коронавируса. Как результат, этот турнир был проведен с полным чувством благодарности и достоинства. На арене, из-за ограничений COVID-19, были разрешены только рукоплескания в поддержку. Даже без слов и голосов, сильные чувства и пожелания были заметны, и в результате звук приобретал особый тон. Зрители также демонстрировали любезное содействие и понимание ко многим ограничениям, касающимся COVID-19. Борцы, которые участвовали в чемпионатах, организующихся во время COVID-19, чувствовали благодарности важнее обычного времени. В ответ на заботливую подготовку организатора, участники демонстрировали результаты тренировок, которые они продолжали в ограниченных условиях COVID-19, и вели великие поединки. В каждой борьбе техника, связанная с чистой душой борцов, была показана хорошо натренированными телами. Я был глубоко тронут абсолютным уравновешиванием духа, техники и корпусов, демонстрируемых конкурентами.
В мужской категории, в которой участвовали сильные борцы от различных организаций Фул- Контактный Карате, Кембу Ирики выиграл самый трудный турнир второй год отряду, и его поединки были выполнены с полной самоуверенностью и достоинством. В женской категории, Михиро Судзуки в возрасте шестнадцати лет, которая впервые участвовала во Все Японском Открытом Чемпионате, заняла второе место. Она боролась до продленного финального времени после уточнения веса. Она старшая дочь Шихана Кунихиро Судзуки, который заболел белокровием два года тому назад. Я был глубоко тронут ее борьбой, где она боролась всем сердцем. Она несла в себе пожелание Шихана Судзуки и его семьи, которые смотрели с мест посетителей. Кроме того, участники не от WKO, которые стали обладателями приза в турнире, в частности Кубота выиграла женскую категорию три раза подряд. Они боролись с уверенностью и достоинством, демонстрируя результат их усердной тренировки. Я надеюсь, что борцы снова встретятся в новом турнире, и это дружественное соперничество будет расширяться за пределами границ организаций. Я поздравляю и прославляю соревнующихся за их большие усилия. На базе результатов этого турнира были отобраны борцы в японскую национальную команду. Я с радостью ожидаю поединки между командами, которые будут проведены в турнирах, открывающихся в одно и то же время, и в них будут участвовать европейская команда, российская команда и команды из других регионов мира.
В мире Фул -Контактном Карате, благодаря формированию единого соревнования, единый фронт постепенно стал формироваться. Этот мир отличается различной культурой и фундаментом, основанном на сосуществовании каждой школы, группы и организации, отличающихся своей уникальностью и идентичностью. Я уверен, что такая тенденция гармонии ускорится в различных регионах мира. Когда такое движение переходит в конкретные шаги, такие как проведение турниров и совещаний, естественно возникают ожидания и беспокойство, однако я надеюсь, что наилучший путь будет выбран заинтересованными членами, повторными беседами и обменом мнениями. Учителя передают учение по собственному стилю Карате в каждой школе, и студенты принимают его правильно. Нужно бережно относиться к благородной связи между учителями и учениками, которая образуется путем накопления длительных тренировок, взаимного уважения идей и точки зрения организации. Давайте продолжать наше движение вперед!
Мы движемся к ликвидации COVID-19 после повторной попытки сосуществования с вирусами, но мы узнали, что недавно опять усилили ограничения международных путешествий. Может быть, это усложнит проведение 7-го Мирового Чемпионата Карате в весовых категориях, который планируется в Польше 24-25 сентября в Польше. Однако для конкурентов, которые усердно занимаются тренировками под риском COVID-19, я хотел бы сделать так, чтобы были приняты различные меры для реализации этого мероприятия. С учетом усилий конкурентов во всем мире, мы продолжим нашу работу для подготовки и организации большого турнира.
В заключение, последние два года сосуществования с COVID-19 дали мне
возможность пересмотреть и перепроверить себя. Что мы должны считать важным в нашей WKO? Прекрасные и важные турниры, организованные нами в кризисе COVID-19. Я хочу выразить мою сердечную благодарность за любезную заботу тех людей, которые поддерживали эти мероприятия, и я приложу все усилия для того, чтобы сделать 2022 год плодотворным, наполненным надеждой. Состояние духа проявляется через речь и действия. На основе принципа «постижения души», давайте сосредоточим нашу душу на таком выражении, и пойдем вперед в будущее для дальнейшего развития нашей организации. Я хочу завершить мое письмо сердечным пожеланием вам крепкого здоровья и счастья, а также веселого Рождества и счастливого Нового года!
