WKO Mauritius proudly hosted an intensive five-day seminar under the esteemed guidance of Shihan Takehisa Iriki, 7th Dan instructor from Japan. The visit was a landmark event for the Kyokushin community in Mauritius, blending high-level training, camaraderie, and cross-cultural connection.

✈️ Arrival & Welcome
Shihan Iriki arrived on 24 July and was warmly welcomed at Saint Georges Hotel, ready to engage with local martial artists and share his expertise.

🧘‍♂️ Technical Mastery & Instruction
25–26 July featured deep dives into Kihon, Ido, and Kata, especially crafted for prospective Dan Test candidates. Shihan emphasized the importance of body alignment, correct breathing, and spirit in technique—hallmarks of true Kyokushin practice.
He also generously shared his dojo’s fighting strategy and conditioning routines, inspiring local fighters to challenge their physical limits and deepen their understanding of combat.
A relaxing visit to the northern beaches allowed Shihan to experience the natural beauty of Mauritius—a refreshing pause amid intense training.

🤝 Nationwide Training Session & Distinguished Guests
On 27 July, dojos across Mauritius gathered for a unified training led by Shihan Iriki. The session focused on basic and moving techniques, followed by fighting combinations and a spirited stamina challenge. The dojo floor pulsed with energy and respect as participants embraced the teachings.
His Excellency Mr. Masahiro Kan, Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius, honored the event with his presence, highlighting the warm ties between Japan and Mauritius through martial arts.

🉐 Dan Test Achievement
28 July was a day of reckoning for 12 dedicated candidates who undertook their Dan Test. After three hours of rigorous assessment, 11 participants succeeded in attaining their next rank—a moment of pride for both students and instructors.

🏛️ Diplomatic Engagements
In between training sessions, Shihan Iriki met with key Mauritian government figures to discuss youth empowerment through martial arts:
•Honourable Woochit O.S.K – Local Government
•Honourable Gondeea O.S.K – Arts and Culture
•Honourable Nagalingum – Youth and Sports
•Honourable Uteem – Labour and Industrial Relations
•Honourable David Junior – Agro Industries
These productive meetings underscored the shared goal of using martial arts to foster discipline, confidence, and opportunity for Mauritius’s youth.

🍽️ Farewell & Departure
A farewell dinner at the residence of Ambassador Kan served as a fitting end to Shihan Iriki’s enriching stay. On 29 July, he departed Mauritius after the successful fulfillment of all scheduled activities, leaving behind inspired students, strengthened friendships, and a lasting legacy.
