KSA-FC National U-21 “Young Lions” Karate Championships 2015

On the 11th April 2015, the Karate South Africa Full Contact (KSA-FC) hosted the National U-21 “Young Lions” Karate Championships 2015 at Port Elizabeth in Eastern Cape Province. The national under 21 championships is commonly known as the “Young Lions”, and participants should be under 21 years old on the day of the event. Shinkyokushinkai South Africa participated in this event represented by 59 participants from two provinces (Western Cape and North West) and won 41 trophies (Western Cape 14 and North West 27); trophies were only awarded for 1st to 3rd places.

The Western Cape team lead by Sensei Deen Daniels had 18 participants and won 14 trophies. The North West team from Matlosana in Klerksdorp lead by Sempai Thomas Sindephi Mayekani had 36 participants and won 23 trophies while the team from Tlhabane in Rustenburg lead by Sensei Chere Gazite had 4 participants and won 4 trophies, Mogwase which is also in Rustenburg was represented by 1 participant, Lentswe Letlhake who placed 4th in Boys 16-17years up to 70kg (no trophies awarded).
Klerksdorp and Rustenburg are situated 146.38km (about 90.96miles) apart. Klerksdorp is located on the Southern region of the North West Province and Rustenburg is located on the Eastern region of the North West Province.

Shihan Isaac Mashinini congratulated the instructors who led and ushered the teams and all the participants and the winners for representing and raising the Shinkyokushinkai South Africa flag on high.
