On October 5th, for the 24th time, the Branko Bosnjak Memorial Tournament was held in Croatia.
The tournament is held in memory of Branko Bosnjak, a member of Karate club Mladost Samobor, who lost his life in the Croatian war for independence.
This year, 50 fighters from 11 countries participated. Fighters from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, and Sweden fought in 4 women and 3 men categories. We also wish to mention that 3 Kyokushin organizations participated: WKO, IFK, and Kyokushinkan.
Many of this year’s world tournament participants came to do their check up before leaving to Tokyo. The audience could see high level fights due to the participation of many European tournament medalists.
At the opening ceremony, Branch Chief Milan Garasic presented new DAN belts to students who passed the exam at the summer camp, and Shihan Furko Kalman 8 DAN from Hungary, gave his special reward to Tihomir Garasic, technical organizer of the tournament, for all of the contribution in organizing this tournament throughout the years.
In the weary hard and strong competition, domestic fighters also won medals and their place on podium.
As the lightest in his category, Fran Luksic won 3rd place (Men -85kg), Dejan Obranic 2nd place (Men -85kg), young Nika Jakobovic 1st place (Women -55kg) and the best fighting spirit award.
