On 20 September, the 5th edition of the Swedish Open was held in Gothenburg.
48 contestants from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, Pakistan, Iran and Tunisia competed before an audience of 800 people. The host country Sweden did well with 4 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze, as well as award for best fighter and tameshiwari prize.

The competition was filmed and was broadcasted on the 18 October on national channel TV4 sports.
Swedish Karate Kyokushinkai is proud of this international competition with such quality and we got to see many talented fighters, spectacular scoring as well as great spirit. This time it was the younger generation who took home the most medals and the audience cheering. Matches in the Finals were even and the crowd was excited about the spectacular techniques and strong fighters. However, when it came to tameshiwari, it was still the older generation that stood for courage and skill with most boards.
We thank all the participants, and hope to meet again in 2016!
